It is with profound sadness that the Ministry of External Affairs, International Trade, Civil Aviation and Diaspora Affairs of Saint Lucia informs of the passing of Her Excellency Elma Gene Isaac, Ambassador of Saint Lucia to CARICOM, the OECS and ACS Representative, and former Permanent Secretary.
Respected for her intellectual acumen, oratory skills and unrivalled commitment to perfectionism, Elma Gene Isaac built a professional legacy that is testament to her recognition as one of Saint Lucia’s and the region’s greatest diplomats.
A formidable negotiator, a meticulous analyst and a silver tongued polyglot – Elma Gene Isaac ensured that Saint Lucian values, principles and priorities were well articulated and well respected in regional and international fora.
It was her mantra, that though small in size, Saint Lucia must create the earthquakes and leave the footprints that are symbolic of the intellectual prowess and technical capabilities of our officials.
Her contributions to diplomacy and the professional development of junior officers under her charge will never be forgotten.
May she rest in eternal peace.
