Contribution of Polio Vaccines from the Federative Republic of Brazil

On Thursday, April 17, 2025, His Excellency Colbert Soares Pinto Junior, Resident Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil, officially handed over 10,000 oral doses of the polio vaccine to the Honourable Moses Jn Baptiste, Minister for Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs.
This timely donation marks a significant milestone in Saint Lucia’s commitment to the 1988 Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI), bringing the nation one step closer to achieving its public health responsibilities. It also reinforces ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare for all citizens in alignment with the Government’s broader vision for Universal Health Coverage.
The Ministry of External Affairs, International Trade, Civil Aviation and Diaspora Affairs has played a vital role in securing this support, leveraging diplomatic engagement to advance Saint Lucia’s national development objectives. The successful collaboration with the Federative Republic of Brazil is a testament to the power of diplomacy in addressing critical public health challenges.
This handover further reflects Brazil’s enduring commitment to South-South cooperation, a key mechanism in advancing the global goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, particularly Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being.
