Saint Lucia Participates in the 55th OAS General Assembly

From June 25 to 27, 2025, Saint Lucia is represented at the 55th Regular Session of the General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS), being held in Antigua and Barbuda. The delegation is led by the Honourable Alva Baptiste, Minister for External Affairs, International Trade, Civil Aviation, and Diaspora Affairs, and includes Her Excellency Elizabeth Darius-Clarke, Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the OAS.
This year’s Assembly convenes at a critical moment for the Americas, providing a vital platform for dialogue on the most pressing challenges facing the hemisphere, from geopolitical tensions and democratic governance to sustainable development and multilateral cooperation.
Saint Lucia’s active participation underscores the country’s commitment to shaping regional policy, defending the interests of small island developing states, and strengthening collective responses to shared challenges. It also reflects Saint Lucia’s determination to ensure that its voice is heard in decisions that affect the hemisphere’s future.
The delegation will also engage in high-level bilateral discussions to advance national development priorities, promote strategic partnerships, and reaffirm the country’s dedication to principled, cooperative diplomacy.

Saint Lucia has benefited greatly from it’s membership with the OAS with several development projects currently being executed through financial and technical assistance from the organization. The OAS has also been a key partner in providing scholarships to Saint Lucian nationals in keeping with the Government’s policy mandate of one graduate per household.
