JICA introduces 2 new volunteers

THE JAPAN INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION AGENCY (JICA) INTRODUCES TWO NEW VOLUNTEERS

CASTRIES, February 9, 2022- On February 9, 2022 the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) introduced two (2) new Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCV) to Saint Lucia.


The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is the governmental agency that coordinates Official Development Assistance (ODA) for the government of Japan.  Since its establishment in 1974. The office coordinates the dispatch of the JOCV in Saint Lucia and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and also dispatches technical experts to the countries under the office’s purview.

The new volunteers will be placed in the north and west of the island respectively.  Mr Ota Yuzo who specializes in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management will be stationed at the National Emergency Management Organization while Ms. Kudo Mutsumi who is qualified in Welfare and Education for Person with Disabilities will be stationed at the Soufriere Special Education School and Rehabilitation Center.

The volunteers expressed their desire to make a valuable and indelible contribution to Saint Lucia.
