PRESS RELEASE

SAINT LUCIA CONDEMNS ANTI-DEMOCRACY ACTIONS IN BRAZIL

The Government of Saint Lucia is deeply saddened by the recent spate of violent attacks against the democratic institutions of the Federative Republic of Brazil and strongly condemns any unwarranted attempt to destabilize the tenure and leadership of the duly elected government of Brazil headed by President Luis Inacio Lula Da Silva.

The Government of Saint Lucia reaffirms its commitment to the preservation of the region of the Americas as a Zone of Peace and as such continues to advocate for consistent, conscientious and inclusive dialogue in resolving this conflict.

To this end, the Government of Saint Lucia joins with democratic voices from across the region and the world, in strong and uncompromising condemnation of all acts of violence, as well as attempts at destabilization and subversion against the democratically elected Unity and Reconstruction Administration of President Luis Inacio Lula Da Silva. Furthermore, the Government of Saint Lucia calls for an immediate end to all hostilities and a return to the peaceful coexistence of all parties.

The Government and people of Saint Lucia avail ourselves of this opportunity to reiterate our respect and recognition of newly elected President Luis Inacio Lula Da Silva, as we look forward to further strengthening relations with the new Government of Brazil.
